{ 30 Days Of Night }

The Next instalment of my film poster series. It was pointed out to me that all of the films i've chosen so far have numbers included in their titles. Maybe a theme, who knows.

I hope your enjoying these as much as I am making them.

{ 28 Days Later Poster }

Carrying on with my poster remake project, I decided to keep with one close to the original. I am really enjoying working on this personal project and am going to carry on working on new posters in the future.

I have had a few graphic design interviews over the last few weeks and a few coming up so hopefully I will be unleashed from the shackles of limited income and join the real world once again.

{ Neglect and Ambitions }

Neglecting isn't how I would describe how I have treaded this blog as of late. For this I apologise. I have been busy with the toils of hunting for work and a permanent job in the field that I studied and of course Christmas. But I haven't forgotten about this blog and definitely haven't forgotten about creating content for it. I have been traveling around the area in New Zealand that I live and have a body of photographs, some of which I have posted on my tumblr, and I will post them on here over the next month.

I have also been updating my portfolio and whilst emptying out some of my old work I decided to try and redo a few of my previous projects. A few years ago, whilst I was at college, I created posters for British Tv shows. I have always loved film poster revamps but never really given them a proper go. So I decided to have a crack. Over a period of time, not decided yet, Il try and produce a number, not decided yet, of film/music/Tv posters.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas period

{ THEY ARE HERE }

Its here guys. My first short comic has arrived. You can download it

Happy reading and happy halloween everyone

In addition google docs has compressed the file, so when you view it online it looks awful. Just download it and view it on your computer. You can do this by clicking the link above, hover over the file, click the arrow on the right and download.

Apologies for the mess up.

{ Lenses & Butt Cracks }

In the summer when I was working at The Fleet Collective I was asked to help Lyall Bruce create imagery for a flash game for iD Gum. The game involved dropping coins down a plumbers but crack to score points, the game was called HIND QUARTERS. I was tasked with supplying photographs for Lyall to photo merge into the final images.

Well the game has been released and is part of a collection that can be played of Facebook, bought on the App Store and Google play. Here are some stills from the game.

The other day I put a load of stuff on New Zealands version of Ebay, Trade Me, and opened myself to online auctions once again. So I ended up buying a new lens, which really, considering, was my wallet coming off lightly. This wee beast is going to get a healthy beating soon. Buying a new lens also opens up the door to the possibility of buying ANOTHER new lens, to which I have a newly formed list of possibilities.

A new camera bag would be nice too.

{ New Outlet }

Today I'v launched a new creative outlet for myself on Tumblr. This is for photos I'v taken across New Zealand. Hopefully over time it will be perfected and show off some of the beautiful places that I'v been to their full potential, but for now I think it looks pretty neat.

{ Radio Silence }

It must be a month since I last posted on here and I feel like Iv been working quite a lot since. I have fully organised my portfolio and applied the images to a slick looking template, to impress hot shot employers.

I also thought that it was about time I started thinking about my science book, I know that i havent uploaded many images from the first draft but i think that it is too far in gone now and Iv moved onto bigger and better things. I threw down the idea bellow and just ran with it and im really happy with the outcome. Over the months im going to be working on illustrations like this one to get an idea of where i want to take this book.

All this productivity being said I still need to prepare for my printmaking classes in 3 weeks time. My "profile" has been added to the WSA website so please go and have a look.

{ EN ZED }

Well, it's been nearly a month since I arrived in New Zealand and a lot of things have happened as well as not an awful lot. As I said before I will be teaching lino and wood cut prints in October but until then I had to find work and I got a job as a head chef in a local pub. The work is really tiring and only temporary but as I am living at home the money I earn should last a while.

In the first few weeks of being here I went to the local public gardens for a walk and took a few snaps of the local wildlife.

This week I decided that I needed to work on a new image for myself and set about rebranding myself as some slick git designer. I wanted to use hand drawn typography, which I have always had a fondness for, and came out with this.

Life over here is definitely different and I think it will take a while to adjust. I hope everyone back in Scotland is well and I miss you all dearly.

{ Printmaking In Hamilton }

Beginning in October I will be starting a new job at the WSA Art School as a printmaking teacher. The job is for only one evening a week but it will give me an opportunity to interact with the local art community and help others. Also it will be sweet for my CV.

{ Chamber East }

This month Chamber East has just set up a new website. I was tasked to create a repeat pattern that used elements of the architecture from the building to be used for the background to the website. Here is that pattern.

And here is a screen shot of the website with the new background

I am really enjoying this level of input in these projects and im really going to miss it when I move away.

{ JAPAN }

My job at the Fleet Collective has finished. It was for a Japanese food festival being held in the same building as the studio. I created the flyers and poster for the event and here they are.

This is the front and back of the flyer

And here is the Poster

The posters and flyers have been distributed around the Dundee area so keep an eye out and I hope to see you at Chamber East on the night

{ Skate Or Die }

I told myself I would make this post a long time ago but I think I was just putting it off until the summer because then everyone would get the most enjoyment out of it. So here it is. Skate or fucking die.

{ My Space }

I started my placement at the Fleet Collective two days ago and I feel like I have been flying ever since. It is simply awesome. I can't show you any work I am doing at the moment but here are a few photos of my temporary desk, until I get a sweet spot. But it true placement fashion I am the closest person to the kettle, coffee anyone?

{ The Game }

After nearly a month of silence, fear, pain and unbelievable anxiety. I am back in the game, what ever that is. I am also a graduate of a "real life" degree, which is something I never thought I would be able to say. My course finished a week ago, climaxing with the degree show on the 31st of May and as far as I can remember it went really well. As far as documentation of said show, I will be posting images and quotes from the night over the coming weeks. There will also be a flurry of posts regarding my final project and the process and theory behind creating it, which as well as my essay did really well.

Iv had an amazing and extremely difficult year, especially in the last few months, and as this major chapter in my life draws to a close I am thankful for all the people who were with me and supported me though out the past 5 years.

I love you guys

{ The End }

I have finished my final project. I just need to print it and bind it now. I will upload images and process photos in the coming weeks. Im so glad it has come together. Best of luck to everyone else on the course. I hope you all finish your work in time and are pleased with the result.
