To the first "completed", still a few week things to sort, page of my up and coming graphic novel/physics textbook. Im so excited to get cracking on with the rest of the book. I will be posting the odd page when completed and some development photos in the coming weeks.

{ The Slow Process }
The slow process of development is where I am currently dragging my heels. I have designed the basic building blocks of my physics based spreads and have produced some rough digital mock ups of them. At first I quite liked them but after a few conversations and nearly a week to stew over them I feel like they have gone sour and that I must press on quickly in a more productive direction.
This mock up shows where I am struggling at the moment. At first my project was meant to engage with the children reading it and inspire them to want to learn more. But the lack of characterisation and narrative in my roughs has taken me back to the drawing board for a serious re think.
I have now started to re build the project. Still keeping the building blocks of these roughs, it would be a waste to start again with them, but just take them in a new direction. This song and really Laura Marling in general has kept the spirits high through this blip. I hope I get back on the right track again.
This is also the my 50th post. Cheers everyone for the support

{ The Coolest Kid In Class }
Throughout my comic strips there will be a narrator, someone who asks the initial question and then sums up what we have learned at the end. I spent some time trying to build up a picture as to which demographic this narrator should come under. They must have the curiosity of a class geek to the social acceptance of a "cool kid". I was tossing around ideas of a kid who dressed up as scientist, lab coat and massive glasses. This however would leave people isolated, on both sides of the fence. The curious science enthusiast would feel alienated from the rest of the class, maybe even picked on, and the uninterested would feel even less involved with the subject because of its "uncool" stamp.
In the end I have decided my narrators are going to be a boy and a girl from no particular demographic, completely ordinary. This might isolate the ordinary kids but they are all the same anyway, so get over it.
Hello Honey I Shrunk The Kids
I was looking through some old photos from last year and I found this beauty, couldn't believe I hadn't put this up sooner. It's a shot of Balgay park in the early autumn and zero editing, straight from the camera. It is maybe one of my favourite photos.

{ Sketchbook Snapshot }
Well its a few weeks into my final degree project and I'm loving it. I am so fascinated by the subject I love looking back through all the old BBC Bitesize research books. Sadly my lecturer is a bit of a Physics-aphobe and cringes every time he has a look through my sketchbook. I might need to do a survey of popular opinion but it seems, as I predicted, that Physics is indeed very uncool. This however is brilliant for my project as it builds of the uncoolness of the subject and tried to make it interesting.
"The Nerd"
On another note my girlfriend is obsessed with Nintendo. I mean crazy about it. So she has just started up a all things nintendo blog/tumblr of her finds, buys and creations. Its so cool and she has got a massive collection of stuff, I know I live with it, that she will be writing about. The link is Nintendwhore. Please check it out.
I will be posting about my weekend and my project so far later in the week
